I recently published a new article on Qiita about SEKHMET, a software-defined gateway for IoT.
SEKHMET uses existing smartphones and tablets as secure IoT edge hubs, removing the need for dedicated gateway hardware. The article introduces the platform’s approach to connecting Bluetooth and other sensor devices through a universal data layer, processing data locally with Edge AI, and reducing infrastructure costs and deployment time.
It also outlines how the gateway can integrate health and equipment data into enterprise systems and digital-twin environments, enabling use cases such as smart factories, healthcare monitoring, and worker-safety alerts.
